FRONTIER ULTRAGLIDE Long Stride Magnetic Elliptical Cross Trainer, German Quality, 3Yr WARRANTY

We went for a more expensive crosstrainer as we think its false economy going for a cheap one which has little resemblance to a gym model. The Ultraglide is superb. It glides along with no noise or squeeks unlike some of the cheaper crosstrainers. The stride lenth is 17 inches which is good & you can really feel it working your muscles. This really is a quality product & having used gym models we can safely say that this product easily feels just as good.Assembling the Ultraglide did look rather daunting at first but if you read the instructions & dont rush then it is very straightforward. We took our time assembling it & it took about 90 minutes.

There are loads of programs & setting to accomadate all users & to keep you motivated. This product is heavy which is good, as some of the lighter crosstrainers tend to wobble when in use.The Ultraglide is solid & has no wobble whatsoever. The flywheel is 22kg.Compare that to other models & you will see that it is much heavyer.Other models tend to be around 7kg-11kg.If you read what fitness instructers say about crosstrainers then you will see that they say that the heavyer the flywheel the smoother the workout. We are very pleased with our purchase & would reccomend it to anyone serious about keeping fit & healthy.

FRONTIER Olympus Max EXTENDABLE Long Stride Cross Trainer, German Quality, 3YR WARRANTY

I've been using this machine for a few months now and it really is as silky smooth and quiet as the ones in the gym. It arrived promptly and very well packed. It took only an hour or so to assemble, and was easier than
expected with step by step instructions.

I've been running for years and am really impressed by this reassuringly sturdy cross trainer. The multi-function touchscreen computer has a wide selection of programmes and modes, and the resistance is very progressive
over a wide range thanks to the better type of magnetic system. I also like that I'm not tied to dashing to the gym after work any more, and can now hop on the trainer whenever I wish to.

This really feels like gym equipment at an affordable price. Overall an excellent piece of kit that looks good and is easy to use. The next challenge is to get my husband on it!

I was after a decent cross trainer and have to say that I am delighted with this. Good quality, nice and quiet (once we realised that there was 2 screws we have forgot to tighten). The programmes are great to stop you getting bored and work you hard. Would definately recommend this. Make sure you have someone strong to help you put this together though as its very heavy!

Exercising On a Cross Trainer

EXERCISE BIKE + CROSS TRAINER - CARDIO & FITNESS WORKOUT

Exercising On a Cross Trainer

By Lindsey Watson
Whether you are investing in a cross trainer or going to attempt to use one at your local gym, learning as much about the piece of equipment as you possibly can, will help you make the most out of each and every work out on the machine. Before you decide to try a work out on this machine, there are a few things that you need to be aware of. Use the tips below to help you when exercising on a cross trainer.

The longer you spend on the machine, the more effective it will be
Cross trainers are known as high calorie burning machines. While this is certainly true, the results will not come without effort. The longer you spend on the machine and the greater the intensity, the better results you will get.

Don't mistake low impact, for lesser results
Many people mistake that effectiveness of the machine because of it "low impact" reputation. Don't let this reputation fool you. A cross trainer is perfect for someone who has sustained an injury or who can no longer participate in high impact exercises. It will be very helpful in keeping you in shape and shedding those few extra pounds.

Use at least 5 times a week for the best results
For the best results, spend at least 30 to 45 minutes on the machine at least 5 times a week. Don't just purchase the machine and let it sit in your gym. Put it to use! Great results are yours for the taking if you are willing to put in the work.

Exercise programs
If you don't know where to start, take advantage of the pre-programmed exercises that will come with some of the higher quality cross trainers. They are workouts that have proven track records and can help get you where you want to be. If weight loss if your goal, choose the program that has the highest intensity and will burn the most calories.

Exercising on a cross trainer is easy once you know how to get started. They make a great addition to any home gym or are the perfect equipment to use to get results at your local gym and they really are easy to use. It may take some time to see results but the more your use it, the better the results will be. Will you allow a cross trainer to help you achieve your exercise goals?

Buy A Cross Trainer For A Good Cardio Workout At Home

By Lindsey Watson
If you are scanning the fitness equipment market for a low-impact cardio exercise machine, then Cross Trainers are possibly the best items that you can get. This device has been specifically designed to deliver a workout experience which puts minimal pressure on highly sensitive areas like joints, hips and knees and yet, as opposed to treadmills or other high-impact exercise equipments, allow users to enjoy a low-impact cardio workout, without inflicting any impact injury on the body.
Elliptical Cross Trainers also offer a dual training facility for the users. They combine both upper as well as lower body exercises into one single activity so that users can blend the utility of 2 exercise routines into one.

Cross Trainers, fitness experts are of the opinion, are supposedly the best equipment to perform low-impact cardiovascular exercise. The intensity of the workout is adequate enough to burn a good number of calories and at the same time speed up the metabolism to help lose weight fast. Additionally, the simultaneous arm and leg movement that the machine induces helps in toning the full body without putting too much pressure on joints and knees. This is primarily because of the unique design that it has. Its foot pedals are designed to naturally follow the leg motion of the user without compelling him to pull consciously at his weight, as is seen in the case of jogging or running on a treadmill.

The advantages of exercising on an Elliptical Cross Trainer far exceed the benefits of simple cardio. It can also -
  1. Burn more calories from fat than a treadmill
  2. A cross trainer work out session induces the use of more groups of muscles and a more intense experience is accomplished in much lesser a time.
Elliptical Cross Trainers come in varied styles and prices and when investing in one, it is very essential to check out some very important criteria:
  1. The model selected must match the functionality and usefulness that is planned out of it.
  2. It is always better to look for Cross Trainers which have electrical consoles to flash the heart rate and the workout status. This is very important for measuring the activity results and choosing the right resistance levels.
  3. The weight-bearing capability of the machine must be sufficient enough to support the weight of the user and render the perfect workout experience that he wishes to accomplish.
So if you are serious about getting in shape and want to exercise in the comfort of your own home a cross trainer makes great sense. Just make sure you avoid the big pitfall that many of us experience when buying home gym equipment - that your purchase does not end up gathering dust after just a couple of months!

Why You Should Consider a Cross Trainer

Body Sculpture BE6730G Programmable Magnetic Elliptical Strider Why You Should Consider a Cross Trainer

By Michael Thomas Johnson

Elliptical cross trainers have been about for several years now and continue to gain in level of popularity. One particular reason would be the improved quality which can be found in the majority of the current home versions. Traditionally, treadmill machines and stationary bikes were definitely the coaches of preference in home gym equipment for cardio health. This has stopped being necessarily true as elliptical cross trainers offer you several benefits which are not seen in either treadmill machines or exercise bikes. In addition to delivering a more total body workout, elliptical exercise machines also provide a greater exercise routine that mixes resistance training with a conventional aerobic program that to many people feels significantly less arduous than alternative work outs.

The earliest home types of elliptical cross trainers received much criticism for several reasons. To begin with, these were noisy and not normally anywhere close to as smooth operating as their gym counterparts. Folks who had been looking for that exact minimal impact workout they got at their neighborhood fitness center were disappointed in early elliptical cross trainers. This isn't accurate anymore.

Despite the fact that it is true that there is many models of inexpensive elliptical exercise machines being marketed that will not include an variable incline or any kind of resistance mechanism, this isn't the case with the vast majority of elliptical cross trainers available for use at home.

Elliptical machines offer excellent simplicity of use. After getting over the first nerves of climbing onto the elliptical machine, they can come to be quite fun to work with. The motion is very smooth and it's built to work together with your natural step whilst delivering support for your entire body. Due to the resistance training aspect, a treadmill might still be more effective for lots of people for purely losing weight, nonetheless the elliptical trainer is superior in providing a whole body exercise routine and increasing muscle while doing so.
If you're considering investing in a home elliptical cross trainer and you have never purchased household workout equipment before, ensure that you check out a couple of retailers first to try out the different options available.

Although you may intend to get your new elliptical exercise machine on the net, trying before buying can help make sure you find the ideal elliptical trainer within your budget.

It is best to find an elliptical trainer that matches your stride and supports your whole body while giving you sufficient resistance to offer a good training session. The last thing you should consider will be the guarantee period offered. How willing a business will be to stand behind their system is a superb signal of the level of quality that you can expect in your new elliptical trainer.

Michael Johnson works and advises in the fitness industry as a personal trainer. Michael specifically focuses on types of cardio machine including cross trainer benefits, spin bikes and treadmills.

Body Sculpture BE5920 Fan Elliptical

By Mrs. J. E. Thomas
... though it's going to hurt in the morning!

We're forty-somethings who've always done a lot of walking but that's been about it, partly due to back problems necessitating low-impact exercise.

I decided to buy a cross-trainer, mostly for its cardio-vascular benefits. We looked at several much more expensive machines, but they were all either too big for me (5'6"), meaning that I was uncomfortably leaned forward, or too small for my husband (6'1"), meaning that he was bashing his knees on the uprights. We were reluctant to spend so much money on something that only one of us could benefit from. Also, they were often HUGE - our house isn't small, but space would have been an issue.

So we decided to try this one, because it was inexpensive if only one of us (most likely me) could use it comfortably, and we wouldn't feel it was too much money wasted if our enthusiasm waned. Also it looked a bit more compact, which was also a plus.

It arrived in good shape yesterday, and the husband assembled it today. Generally easy, with well marked components, as has been said before. But we did notice one bit (the pedal hinge bolt) where we thought the written instructions were misleading and contrary to our instinct as to where a washer should go. If in doubt it's best to look at the exploded diagram (which confirmed our hunch).

We found it to be advisable to protect the area around the machine with newspaper for its first use, as we did get one large dollop of grease out - luckily it hit the radiator, not the carpet!

We've both tried it. It seems very robust, smooth and acceptably quiet in use and, much to our surprise, it works for both of us with our differing sizes.

We found it quite hard work to start with, which probably shows that we need it! As I said at the start, I think I might hurt in the morning! There's plenty of scope to increase the resistance and time, so it should still provide a good workout once we're a bit fitter.
Overall very pleased with our purchase, which was much better than we expected for the money.

Elliptical Cross Trainer - What Muscles Do They Work

Elliptical Cross Trainer - What Muscles Do They Work

By Rob A Andrews
With Summer just a few short months away many people's thoughts turn to dropping a little bit of the extra padding they have acquired during the winter season and with busy lives many find it difficult to commit to a gym membership so the idea of hiring equipment to use in our homes appeals greatly, especially when the weather isn't that great.

If you are hiring gym equipment for your home you want something that is going to be able to work as many of your muscles as possible yet be easy to use and not take up too much space. An elliptical cross trainer is a great example of this, being able to work nearly your entire body yet is static and compact.
The standard machines have the following features:
- 12 programs for variety
- 16 levels of tension control for fitness levels
- Screen displays time/speed/distance/calories/workload
- Hand pulse read out for your heart rate
- Large comfortable foot pedals
- Magnetic brake system for safety
- Transport wheels to easily move the equipment

To operate an elliptical cross trainer you stand on the foot pedals and hold onto the handles and start pedalling, as you move the pedals the handles move in sync moving your arms.

If you are new to the equipment it's recommended to start on the manual settings until you are feeling comfortable and confident. Once you have mastered your technique then you can move onto the programs preset in the trainers' computer adjusting the tension levels for a harder work-out and to simulate running over different terrain as you would running outside.

Walking/running in a forward mode works the large muscles in the front of your thighs - called quadriceps and the three muscles in your buttocks called the gluteus. Your gluteus maximus is one of the most important muscles in your body as it is a core stabiliser for your frame assisting with co-ordination and balance amongst other important functions, it is in fact known as the powerhouse muscle for the body.
One of the benefits of an elliptical cross trainer over simply walking about the block is the ability to pedal in a backward mode which works the muscles at the back of your thighs called hamstrings, giving you the ability to do a full lower body workout on the same equipment.

The machines have moving and non-moving handles so you can choose to complement your lower body workout with an upper body workout at the same time.

A Proform Elliptical Review For The Cross Trainers Developed By Icon Health And Fitness

By Tim Gorman

The ProForm Elliptical Trainer By Icon
Move over, Richard Simmons! In the game of "All's Fair in Love and Fitness," there's a new exercise giant in town. Icon Health and Fitness is the largest fitness retail company on the globe, and finding their products in neighborhood gyms from New York to Toyko is as easy as one, two, three, but that doesn't mean that you can't have one right in the comfort of your own living room. Just check out some of their subsidiaries like Reebox, Nordic Track, and Welco. And then there is the ProFrom Elliptical Trainer by Icon, which has continued to bring Icon, a company grossing more than one billion dollars a year, the infamy created by the Nordic Track in spite of consistent ProForm Elliptical reviews of "average" and a host of well publicized problems.

Variations of the ProForm Elliptical Trainer
Designed especially for the casual runner, there are four types of ProForm Elliptical Trainers, including the ProForm 880, the ProForm 1080S, the ProForm 1280,and the ProForm CrossOver. Icon's elliptical trainers range in price from three hundred to one thousand dollars, and our marketed as a light duty machine. So, if you enjoy "Sweating to the Oldies" every morning between four and seven, this isn't the elliptical trainer for you.
What sets Icon's ProForm Elliptical Trainer as the leader of the pack is the ability to create an cheap machine that looks like a million bucks, and you can bet dollars to doughnuts that you won't find any plastic on these babies. After all, Icon is know for pulling out all the stops. The big "cha-ching" factor with the company's elliptical trainer is their incorporation of the iFit technology. An interactive program that allows the consumer to take the reigns over their workout through the completion of multiple challenges and obstacle courses-sort of like the computer chip's answer to a really pushy personal trainer. The ProForm Elliptical Trainer offers a cut and dry warranty of just ninety days for service, and an additional ninety days for parts, but there's always the option of an extended warranty.

ProForm Elliptical Reviews
Consumer Reports (CR) considers itself an authority on counting the usefulness of products for the home. The organization praised the ProForm Elliptical Trainer on being easy to use, giving the machine a "very good" rating in that category, but when it come to reliability and quality of components, the pride and joy of Icon came up a little short, as did the majority of other trainers and treadmills sporting the Icon logo. ProForm Elliptical reviews by Consumer Reports were marked overwhelmingly "average" With regard to the 1080S ProForm, CR cited an incident in which the machine arrived in their lab with a "defective resistance mechanism" that could not be reversed. The company complained of receiving a second test model with a the same problem. Consumer Reports' ProForm Elliptical review also took note of faulty hand-grip heart-rate sensor offered as attachments with trainers.

Great product

 9 Mar 2012
By MRS MOP
Product reflects the price, it's ok but not great. Definitely worth spending more for a better product. Arrived with one of the foot cap broken, although Sports Direct had very promptly sent a replacement. A bit wobbly to use - i'm only 9 stone. The computer on it has not worked at all. I had second thoughts when I've ordered this product; ordered at lunchtime so tried to cancel it in the evening but the company advised that I could only cancel within 90minutes from the time of placing an order, so worth noting this before you order. I have not thought of reading their t&c, i thought it will be the same as Amazon's t&c so i'm stuck with a product i'm not happy with.

I was not sure what quality this product would be with it being such a low price, But was pleasantly surprised. The delivery was really fast recieved the day after ordering. Was reasonably easy to assemble. I am a typical woman and do not find things like this easy to put together, but with this I managed it on my own no problem. The product itself is easy to use and looks really good considering the price.. you can set it to a resistance to suit what level of fitness you are at so good for me as a beginner. The computer is great.. logs time on, distance , speed , calories burned etc. And with this cross trainer being so compact easy to store, I have a really small house and does not take much space.
So for the price and quility of item a greart all round buy.Great product and great service.

Circle Glide Cross Trainer

Circle Glide Cross Trainer

I am Happy with my purchase. Was nervous to purchase as worried I would get bored. You have to use it a lot though, I use it a few times a day and 3 days later the muscles at the top of my legs ache! I count to 100 at a time, I can manage that so far without being bored out of my mind. Its a fun workout changing from one direction to the next, almost like being on a swing. Great to step on when waiting for the microwave or brushing teeth
Circle Glide Cross Trainer Light so can move it easily. Assembly was a bit tricky front-back back-front which way is it. But in the end its only two sets of screws to put in and attach the handle. The rest comes already setup. Arrives in a long box. I had to do something about my legs and the outside thigh and inside thigh are problem areas, walking is great - my favourite exercise. But this machine has a different motion to walking it works more side-to-side which is a great addition. Looking forward to the results, just dreaming of getting back in Jeans.
